Turning Complexity into Clarity
Secure Our Food was a public-awareness initiative developed with the Klamath Water Users Association to help people better understand the connections between water, agriculture, food security and the communities of the Klamath Basin.
At the center of the initiative was a short film—and the need for a clear, credible place where the larger story could come together.
Rogue Branding worked alongside the organization from strategy through launch, developing the visual identity, messaging, website, campaign materials and digital outreach. The work required more than making a complicated issue look approachable. It required learning the subject deeply enough to communicate it with care, clarity and respect for the people living it.
The Challenge
Water and agriculture in the Klamath Basin are deeply connected—and often difficult to explain in a few headlines or talking points. The issue involves public policy, natural resources, food production, rural livelihoods and generations of regional history.
Secure Our Food needed to translate that complexity into a story that people could understand without oversimplifying it. The campaign also needed to support a short film, reach several different audiences and maintain a positive, solutions-focused voice in a conversation that was often highly polarized.
The work needed to:
Turn technical and policy-heavy information into clear public communication
Build a credible identity around the initiative
Create a central digital home for the film and supporting information
Reach farmers, community members, policymakers, media and the broader public
Develop messaging that could work consistently across the website, social channels and outreach materials
Give the organization added communications capacity throughout the launch
Our Approach
Rogue began by listening.
Working closely with organizational leadership and subject-matter experts, we learned the history, concerns and human stories behind the issue before determining how the campaign should look or sound.
From there, Rogue built an integrated communications system around the initiative.
Brand Strategy & Messaging
Developed the Secure Our Food visual identity and supporting brand system
Established a clear, approachable voice for the initiative
Helped organize complex information around a shared human story
Created messaging that connected water management with food production, regional livelihoods and community resilience
Website & Digital Experience
Designed and developed a modern, mobile-friendly campaign website
Created a central home for the short film, supporting information and calls to action
Organized the content so visitors could understand the issue without needing prior technical knowledge
Used strong photography and visual storytelling to keep the people and places behind the issue visible
Campaign & Communications Support
Developed digital and social content around the film and campaign
Created adaptable materials for organizational outreach
Supported public relations and message consistency across channels
Helped carry the project from early strategy through launch and ongoing communication
A LOOK AT THE WORK
The public-facing SecureOurFood.org website is no longer active. The organization later chose to take the site offline, but the screenshots below preserve the campaign, website and visual system developed for the initiative.
The Result
Secure Our Food launched as a complete public-facing initiative rather than a collection of disconnected campaign pieces.
The organization received a clear identity, a focused message, a modern digital platform and an adaptable communications foundation that could support the film and its broader outreach.
The project:
Delivered a cohesive campaign identity and website on schedule and within budget
Created a clear platform for presenting the film and explaining the larger issue
Helped make complicated regional topics more accessible to the public
Strengthened the organization’s ability to communicate consistently across channels
Provided reusable messaging, creative assets and digital tools for continued outreach
Kept agriculture, food security and community at the center of the story
WHY IT MATTERS
Complex public issues do not become easier to communicate simply by saying more.
They require someone willing to listen, understand the context and find the clearest path through it. Secure Our Food demonstrates Rogue Branding’s ability to work alongside subject-matter experts, turn complexity into meaningful public communication and carry an initiative from early strategy through hands-on execution.
It is also an example of what being part of the team can look like: learning the issue, understanding what is at stake and helping the organization tell its story in a way that feels accurate, human and genuinely its own.
This project demonstrates Rogue’s ability to:
Learn and communicate complex regional issues
Develop clear messaging without flattening important nuance
Work closely with leadership and subject-matter experts
Connect strategy, branding, storytelling and digital execution
Build public-facing campaigns around trust and shared understanding
Provide meaningful communications capacity from concept through launch
